Jurgen Klopp Confirms Talks With £14m-Rated Euro 2016 Star Imminent

Joe Allen’s future at Liverpool has been up for discussion across various sections of the media in recent times. It has been suggested that Liverpool manager is keen to sell the playmaker this summer and, based on Klopp’s recent remarks, it doesn’t look like that stance will change.

The Daily Mail recently confirmed Liverpool have placed a valuation of £14 million on the former Swansea player after his stellar performance for Wales at the just concluded European Championship 2016. And in an interview with the BBC, Klopp was quoted to have said:

“Obviously Joe Allen is a good player. We never doubted this. We have to make decisions, we have to find solutions. We have to talk to the player, ask the player and think about our situation. That’s how it works.”

If indeed Klopp wants to keep Joe Allen in the Liverpool squad, he would have confirmed it right away in the interview. However, by Klopp being coy, it is obvious that Allen is not needed at the club. The recent links to the signing of Marcelo Brozovic, Lucas Moura and Mahmoud Dahoud is another pointer to the fact that Klopp has been trying to replace the 26-year-old.

Allen’s impressive performance at the recently concluded European Championships might have convinced some fans that he is good enough for the Liverpool team, but having said that, I’m of the opinion that a player who after 3 years at the club can’t nail down a spot in the current Liverpool team should be replaced.

Some players do well at the national team level but don’t do well at club level. This is a fact that all Liverpool fans who do not want him sold have to take note of.

Liverpool surely could do with another player who is creative, has an eye for a pass and can create assists, something Liverpool and their fans thought Joe Allen will become. However, by keeping the Welshman in the team, they are shooting themselves in the foot. A player who is more consistent than the Wales international should be brought in.
